WELCOME TO "THE ORIGINAL SHAREWARE" DISK!
TO INSTALL: Log onto the CD-ROM drive and type
INSTALL C:
and press the <ENTER> key.
(If you wish to install to a hard drive other
than C: use that drive letter instead.)
TO RUN: Upon completion of the installation process,
change directory to \OSHARE on your hard
drive, type
FILEBASE
and press <ENTER>.
The initial "sort group" screen of FileBase
allows you to select files from any one of
thirty-eight categories. Select a category of
interest by typing in its corresponding number.
A list of files and descriptions available in
that category will appear.
You may use your up/down arrow key to scroll
through the file listing. Press <ENTER> to
select a file for testing.
FileBase will then copy the file from the CD,
un-compress it, and shell to DOS so that you
can examine or run it.
When you have finished testing the file you
selected, simply type
EXIT
and press <ENTER> at the DOS prompt to return
to FileBase.
To help keep your hard disk uncluttered,
FileBase will ask you if you wish to delete the
tested files. Respond "Y" or "N".
NOTE: In order for FileBase to un-compress the files,
it must have PKUNZIP.EXE available somewhere
along your DOS path. If PKUNZIP.EXE isn't
installed, you can obtain a copy from your
"THE ORIGINAL SHAREWARE" disk as follows:
Change to a subdirectory on your hard drive
where you wish to unpack the PKZip files.
At the DOS prompt, type
COPY D:\25\PKZ110.EXE
and press <ENTER>.
Substitute the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive
in place of the D: in the above. For instance,
if your CD-ROM player is drive E: then at the DOS
prompt you would type
COPY E:\25\PKZ110.EXE
and press <ENTER>.
After the file PKZ110.EXE finishes copying onto
your hard drive, type
PKZ110
and press <ENTER>. This will extract the files
from this self-extracting archive.
After the files are extracted, you should copy
the file PKUNZIP.EXE into a subdirectory that is
in your DOS path. To see your DOS path, at the
DOS prompt type
PATH
and press <ENTER>.
